“I feel most fulfilled when I am working on strategies from the ground up as a designer and visualiser, and seeing projects through to launch – contributing visual thinking throughout and graphic polish at the end.”
What is a little-known fact about you?
I’m a founding partner, art director and illustrator for a record label with a roster of international artists.
What piques your curiosity or where do you seek out inspiration?
Design problems, clever design ideas, and also reading comics and listening to music.
What invigorates you creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
Drawing, playing music, my family, catching up with friends.
Could you tell us about somebody who has given you sage wisdom in the past?
My old boss, German designer Thomas Bley who taught me to always question the accepted way of doing things.
Which projects have been the most meaningful to you and why?
The very first one with the amazing Keogh people. They encourage each team member to play to their strengths. It was the moment I realised that what I can contribute has real value in redirecting business strategies.
Could you tell us a story about a moment of realisation in your lifetime?
I’ve learned that it’s good to have a mentor. You can approach your heroes for advice and input. I asked the designer of a very famous record cover to be my PhD examiner. He agreed. I passed. Years later he wrote the forward to my one and only book!
